Ancient Egypt Glossary
-Pharohs- a Pharoh was a ruler of Ancient Egypt. Sort of like the king.
-Goddesses- like a Pharoh, a Goddess is a fancy name for a royal women.
-Pyramids- similar in appearance to the 3D shape, a pyramid is a massive stone structure, that can have tombs in such inside.
-River Nile- the River Nile is a massive north-flowin river, generally thought of as the largest river in the world.
-Priests- these were the people who spoke to the Gods.
-Holy Men-" "
-Citizens- the people who live in, or populate a certain place. E.g- we are Australian citizens.
-Viziers- the Viziers were the second most official/royal in Ancient Egypt. They were responsible for overlooking everything. E.g- building sites, and law.
-Army Commanders- as the name states, Army Commanders were in charge of commanding the army.
-Cheif Treasurer- this guy collected goods, and was in charge of looking after the countrys wealth.
-Minister of Public Works- the Minister Of Public Works overlooked things of the public, like crime and such.
-Tax Collector- like the name states, the Tax Collector collected the Tax.
-polytheistic - this is a type of religion, meaning believing in many gods.
-Afterlife- the belief of a life after death
-Peasants- the lowest order of society in Ancient Egypt. They were basically slaves.
-Hieroglyphs- the type of writing the Ancient Egyptians used to communicate, write stories, and teach with.
-Banquets- another word for feast
-Flax- a type of textile fibre, harvested from the flax plant.
-Mummification- the process of mummifying someone, (turning them into a mummy)
-Eternal- meaning forever. For example, the Egyptians believed in eternal life. Meaning you will live forever
-Foreigners- people from another place, country or land.
-Aristocrats- a member of the aristocracy, which is the highest social rank. They are rich and thought of as decendents of blue blood.
-Senate- the government people.
