Julius Caesar- A LifeIt has long been argued, but it's estimated that Julius Caesar was born in Rome on July 12 or 13, 100 BC. Julius Caesar has always been looked upon as a rich, and royal man, but that is far from the truth. Although Caesar was hailed from aristocrats, his family was NOT rich. When Caesar was 16 his father passed away, causing Caesar to always have a very close bond with his mother Aurelia.
Julius Caesar had a plan. To be accepted by the nobles, and up his chances of royalty. He married a lady called Cornelia, the daughter of a noble, but this made a certain Rome dictator (Sulla), unhappy. Sulla ordered Caesar to divorce Cornelia, or risk losing his property. Julius refused to divorce Cornelia and escaped to the military fighting in Asia and then Cilicia. Eventually, Sulla died, and Caesar returned to Rome. He studied politics, and was temporarily moved to Rhodes but during his travel was captured by pirates. He eventually escaped. Caesar returned home and not long after Cornelia died in 69BC. Two years later he remarried to a woman named Pomeia. Their marriage lasted a few year and in 62BC the couple divorced. |
Caesar fought in many wars and defeated most of his opponents. During his life, Caesar defeated the Helvetians, the Germans, and the Nervii.
Caesar also launched an attack on Germany and Britain One of the most well known facts of Caesar was his love for Cleopatra (the Pharoh of Egypt at that time). It all started when Caesar visited Egypt, and Cleopatra was said to have been begging him to help her win the battle against Ptolemy, her teenaged brother. Caesar helped Cleopatra to victory, and eventually took her back to Rome to be his wife. Caesar eventually named himself dictator for life, but some members of the senate found that this could lead to problems. So, they decided, the only way to solve this problem, was to assassinate Caesar. This was done by a stabbing attack during a gladiator show. It is believed that he was stabbed at least 35 times. And there ended the life of Julius Caesar in 44BC. |
